Year 7 Workshop 2024
We are looking forward to meeting your daughter(s) on 14th September 2024. We realise that for many, this will be a big step of courage to meet new people and be in a new environment. Please be assured that we work very hard to make this positive experience. We encourage parents to leave promptly once they have dropped their daughters off. This helps us to get on with our purpose and plan.
CONFERENCE TIMES:
Saturday 14th September 11am-5pm
WHERE:
Mission North Church, 9 Wainui Rd, Silverdale (down the driveway beside JA Russell)
WHAT TO BRING:
A drink bottle
A packed lunch
Our workshop programme facilitates learning and discussion around healthy friendships, building self-esteem and knowing where they can find self-worth. We also have team building games, team challenges, craft (to enable discussion with mentors), and we have a time of Q and A. It will be a fun, affirming and challenging time for them.
Mentors and Groups:
Your daughter will be placed in a group with a mentor. Our mentors are Year 10. Our mentors have attended our mentorship training camp so are equipped and prepared to work with your daughter.
Information about your daughter:
Thank you for the comments/information you have given us on the registration form. Please let us know before conference (if you haven’t already) if there are specific issues or needs we need to know about your daughter. It is important that we can be as prepared as possible to ensure your daughters experience is a positive one. We are not trained counselors but being aware and sensitive of ‘issues’ is helpful. Anything you share with us is confidential.

Use of devices/language – NO DEVICES
We will not have devices at conference this year. This is an important time for them to engage person to person rather than pull their phones out. Please emphasise this with your daughter so they are not surprised when we ask them to put their devices away if we see them using them.
What your daughter needs to bring on the day:
a bottle of water
We will provide afternoon tea. If your daughter has specific dietary requirements, please let us know.
We look forward to seeing your daughter(s) on the 14th September. Sign in” opens at 10.30am. We have a fun, challenging, conference where your girls will be reminded of their worth. They will be encouraged, informed, equipped and empowered.
I would like to acknowledge our You Are operations team. This is made up of nine adults who all work on a voluntary basis to bring this opportunity to your girls. They all work, have families but are committed to seeing the You Are vision come to fruition so that our community can be strengthened and your daughters can see their potential and grow in confidence.
